Palatine Parks affiliates offer fall baseball/softball programs

Registration is now open for the Fall Baseball programs offered by Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball and Palatine Baseball Association, both affiliates of Palatine Park District. Players can also register for the Palatine Travelers tryouts scheduled for July 18 and 19. Palatine Stingrays Softball tryouts are scheduled for Aug. 6 and 7.

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball; fall ball for grades three through six

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball (PYB/S) is the Park District affiliate baseball/softball program for ages 5 through sixth grade. The association offers house leagues, postseason tournament teams, travel teams, fall ball and instructional opportunities throughout the year.

Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball fall baseball is for boys in grades three through six. The basis of the league is fun, with a focus on player development, and will introduce players to the next level of baseball. Practices will be held once a week. The PYB/S Fall Ball League offers two divisions. The Minors Division is for players in third and fourth grade for the 2016-2017 school year and the Bronco Division is for players in fifth and sixth grade in the fall. Teams will be assigned one practice time each week and games will be played on Saturdays. Teams will be formed in early August with practices beginning in mid-August. Palatine Baseball Association; fall ball for grades seven through 12

Palatine Baseball Association (PBA) is the Park District affiliate baseball/softball program for ages 13-29, or grades 7 and up. The association offers a house league, postseason tournament teams, a fall ball league, and instructional opportunities.

Palatine Baseball Association will be offering a fall baseball House League. The league will offer a competitive, fun atmosphere for incoming seventh- and eighth-graders, as well as continue to offer competitive baseball for high school age groups. The Pony and Colt baseball programs are focused on advanced development and are great for players transitioning to Pony and high school baseball in spring 2017.

The Pony Sunday Baseball League, offered for the fourth consecutive year, is for players in seventh and eighth grade for the 2016-2017 school year. The season will be held from mid-August to late October. Games will be played on Sundays between 2 and 6 p.m., and coaches can schedule optional practices on Saturdays. The registration deadline for this program is July 30, 2016.

A Colt Baseball League will be offered in cooperation with the Rolling Meadows Park District. Colt Fall Ball offers a unique opportunity to continue playing into the fall season and games will be played primarily on the Rolling Meadows High School Varsity Baseball Field. The league is open to players who are freshman through seniors in high school for the 2016-2017 school year. Games will be played on Sundays between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from mid-August into October. Coaches may hold optional practices for their teams on Saturdays as well.

Travel Tryouts; Palatine Stingrays Softball

The Palatine Stingrays will be holding tryouts for the following competitive girls softball levels: 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 16U. Tryouts will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Gbur Fields at Hamilton Reservoir, 1037 N. Smith Road, Palatine. Tryouts for all ages will begin at 10 a.m.; players should arrive early to warm-up. Tryouts will consist of hitting, fielding, athleticism, running and if applicable pitching and/or catching. Interested players must preregister for tryouts at www.palatinestingrays.com.

Travel Tryouts; Palatine Travelers Baseball

The Palatine Travelers will be hosting the boys full time travel tryouts for 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, and 14U on July 18 and 19, 2016. Boys from Palatine and the surrounding suburbs who enjoy the game of baseball and are interested in playing for one of the best travel programs in the area are encouraged to attend. Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to their assigned time. They should come fully dressed in baseball pants, belt and hat and should bring their baseball gear. Interested players must preregister for tryouts at www.palatinetravelers.com.

Evaluations Schedule:

Monday, July 18: 9U: 4:30-6 p.m. (Hamilton A&B); 10U: 6-7:30 p.m. (Hamilton B&C); 11U & 12U: 7:30-9 p.m. (Hamilton A, B, C); 13U & 14U: 6-7:30 p.m. (Birchwood 3&4).

Players' names/numbers will be listed on the pybtravelers.com website by noon on July 19, for a second round of tryouts to be held on July 19 at the following times:
