Tree of Life UU celebrates art with July show

The Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry, will host a "Celebration of Art" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 31.

In addition, there will be a wine and cheese reception to meet and mingle with the artists from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

In addition, each artist will donate a work to be raffled off, the proceeds going to CASA of McHenry County which provides trained volunteers as court appointed special advocates to advocate for child victims of abuse and neglect in juvenile court and in the foster care system. Raffle tickets can be purchased at any time during exhibit hours.

About 30 artists will show their work both inside the building and outside on the beautiful grounds. Since art encompasses more than visual art, there will also be musical entertainment throughout the show.

The "Celebration of Art" is an informal heir to the long-running art show hosted by congregation members Deb Glaubke and Gale Harris on the grounds of their Woodstock home. Fans of that popular event will be glad to find that its spirit lives on.

Booth space is still available for artists inside the air-conditioned church, under a 40- by 40-foot tent, or under their own canopies on the grounds.

Limited exhibit space is still available.
