National Merit Program recognizes 11 Geneva High seniors as Commended Students

Geneva High School Principal Tom Rogers has announced that Jacob Bice, Julia M. Brown, Grayson R. Frazier, Annac Gain, John Hammond, Grace E. Keegan, Ashley King, Avery K. Moore, Bryce Nelson, Mary G. Neville, and Samantha H. Ottley have been named Commended Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

A Letter of Commendation from Geneva High and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by the Principal Rogers to these scholastically talented seniors. The Geneva Unit District 304 board will present these students with the its highest honor, the "Tradition of Excellence" Award, at its next meeting Sept. 26.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
