Des Plaines man wins $100,000 Powerball prize

Des Plaines resident Michael Madden won a $100,000 Powerball prize when his ticket matched four numbers, plus the Powerball number, in the Saturday, April 2 drawing, Illinois Lottery officials announced Tuesday.

Madden added the Power Play multiplying feature to his ticket that allowed the value of his $50,000 prize to be doubled. He purchased the ticket at El Mexico Grocery Store, 1425 Ellinwood Ave. in Des Plaines, which receives $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Madden says he plans to pay bills and buy his wife something special to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary.
