Friends For Health Raises $9,000 For North Shore Health Center

HIGHLAND PARK, IL (JUNE 2016) - To commemorate North Shore Health Center's (NSHC) 10-year anniversary of serving the local community, Friends for Health (FFH) hosted a private event at NSHC on Sunday, June 26 and raised $9,000 through generous donations at the event and online auction, and from donors who could not attend the event. Monies raised will support NSHC's medical and dental specialty care services such as colon cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, retinal screenings for diabetics, mammograms, ultrasounds and oral surgery.

Approximately 100 guests were in attendance at the event, including Tim Sashko, President of the Lake County Board of Health; Daniel Pierce, former Mayor of the City of Highland Park; Jim Styer, Chair of the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park; and Alyson M. Feiger, Supervisor of the West Deerfield Township.

Attendees toured NSHC's facility while learning about the variety of educational programs and medical services made possible by the public-private partnership with FFH. Afterwards, guests mingled with members of the FFH Board of Directors while enjoying an assortment of healthy snacks and beverages.

The celebration continued with FFH's online auction, featuring gift items generously donated by local Highland Park businesses. And, as part of Highland Park Bank and Trust's monthly Charity Jeans Day initiative to support local organizations, bank employees donated $5 for the opportunity to wear jeans to work and raised a total of $225 for NSHC.

"We're extremely thankful to the community for their generosity in supporting Friends for Health and the North Shore Health Center," said Holly Kerr, Chair of the Board at Friends for Health. "We're proud to have served the community for the past 10 years and we hope we can continue to make a difference in providing affordable, quality health care for all in the years to come."
