Local club to travel to Anderson Japanese Gardens

The Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will travel to the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford for its next meeting on Tuesday, July 19.

The trip, weather permitting, will begin at 8:30 a.m., with lunch after the garden tour. The Anderson Japanese Gardens features a 12-acre landscape with winding pathways, streams, koi ponds, and waterfalls. Cultural Enrichment Director Jan Ihssen will contact members before the trip and luncheon to coordinate final details and make reservations.

Hampshire-Henpeck members enjoyed a luncheon at Alexander's Restaurant at the June meeting.

Club members are looking forward to fun, informative and exciting program sessions this summer and fall. In August, they will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Heartland Bank in Hampshire with a lesson and discussion on "Simplifying Your Life by Clearing the Clutter." September brings a field trip to the dinner theater at White Pines Inn in Oregon, Ill. In October, there will be a presentation on nutrition and fitness by Mary Carroll, a dietitian from Presence St. Joseph Hospital.
