'Joseph' coming to Schaumburg stage

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is about to make its Schaumburg Park District debut July 15-17, at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical tells the Biblical story of Joseph, who is betrayed by his jealous brothers after receiving a coat of many colors from his father, Jacob.

"It's a favorite musical because of the variety of music and the continuous movement," said Beth Waller, cultural arts supervisor. "We have a talented cast of actors - many of whom are veteran actors of the stage."

Cast as Joseph is Nic LaMore, 21, of Hoffman Estates, who has appeared in more than 30 district productions.

"It's going to be a great show," said LaMore. "I've never performed Joseph, so learning the music has been challenging and exciting. I love working with a group of people so dedicated to putting on an awesome performance."

Upcoming show times include: 7 p.m., July 15; 6 p.m., July 16; and 2 p.m., July 17.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for youth and free to children ages 2 and younger if being held.
