Gurnee police crackdown results

Gurnee police have announced results from a special traffic safety crackdown that coincided with the Fourth of July weekend. Officials said the campaign ran from June 20 through July 5 and included impaired driver and safety restraint enforcement activities across the village. With 13 officers working about 46 extra hours, police made one drug/alcohol-related arrest and issued 59 traffic citations. The crackdown was funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
