President only helped the big guys

It's said that the harder you work, the luckier you get. And I believe for the most part this is true. There couldn't be a greater example of hard work paying off than the professional athlete.

The time and effort and risk these people put into becoming the best at what they do is incredible. And once they get really good, they make it look easy. It's only when they reach that level of exceptional performance is when they begin to be highly compensated and handsomely rewarded. And lucky to be making a lot of money doing what they do best at what they love.

The same goes for those who start and build small businesses. It takes unbelievable hard work, long hours, sacrifice and dedication … and risk. Not unlike the athlete the business owner begins to make it look easy because they've invested the time and money and heartache to get it right and make their customers happy.

The only difference is they are not looked upon the same by the government and politicians who consider business owners privileged, as if somehow they were given everything on a silver platter. And yes, it was insulting when our president announced to the country that "we didn't build our businesses, someone else did."

In fact the government, through high taxes and stifling regulation, make it very difficult, and discouraging, to take the risks and suffer the pain involved in creating a successful business.

We were very encouraged to have what we thought would be a very pro-small business president coming into office eight years ago.

Unfortunately it seems there was too much hard work and risk for this president in helping small businesses, so he just helped the big guys.
