Sign up for CKI religious school begins

Registration is beginning for Congregation Kneseth Israel's Torah School and Hebrew School. Torah School for kindergarten through third grade meets on Sundays from 9:45 a.m. to noon. Torah School for students in fourth through seventh grade meets on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. until noon.

These students divide their class time between Hebrew and Judaic studies. Preschool classes for age 3-5 are held once a month.

One Sunday a month, families join the students for "Judaism Rocks." These are interactive sessions which incorporate music, art, food, drama, and field trips. CKI is very excited to have received a grant from the Chicago Federation for Jewish Education for interactive family education programs in collaboration with two other congregations.

The religious school of Congregation Kneseth Israel in Elgin is part of a diverse Jewish community. Families come from many geographic areas and many religious traditions from Orthodox to Reform and everything in between. Together we have created a school that honors individual differences. With a team approach including the rabbi, staff, parents, and students, we create an experience which meets each person where he or she is and helps him grow spiritually, gaining pride in Judaism and our people.

Come be a part of something ancient and modern. For more information, contact Heather Baumann Tratt, director of education, at (847) 741-5656 or cki.educator@gmail.com.
