Rotary Club Installs Officers and Directors for 2016-2017

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods recently installed their Officers and Board of Directors for the 2016-2017 year. The installation event was held June 28th at Village Pizza and BBQ, Long Grove.

The officers for the Club are Jim Dopler, Kildeer, President, President-Elect; Ross Spencer, Inverness, Treasurer; and Greg Cardelli, Hawthorn Woods, Secretary. Other Board members include: Sara Knight, Immediate Past President, Long Grove, and Lyle Staab, Foundation Treasurer, Hawthorn Woods.

Incoming President Jim Dopler indicated, "Our Rotary Club has been involved in our communities for over twenty years, with fund raising projects like our 19th Annual Rotary Race for Charity 5K Run and 3K Walk. The event draws 800-1,000 participants annually and has raised over $1.3 million since 1998 for our participating charities. All of the proceeds from our fundraising efforts are donated back into the local community as well as to select national and international projects."

In 2015-2016, the Club's projects included: Sponsoring several community dinners at Emmaus House, Lake Zurich; sponsoring and delivering Thanksgiving meals to Veterans in need in Lake County; the Adopt a Highway program on Route 83 in Long Grove; a donation to St. Mary's Food Pantry in Buffalo Grove; a donation to Lake County Haven, Libertyville; sponsoring scholarships for several local high school students to our Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA); sponsoring a new Little Free Library at the Community Park in Hawthorn Woods; donations to Shelter Box, an international relief organization; and donations to End Polio Now, a global Rotary initiative to eradicate polio.

The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, and Hawthorn Woods provides individuals the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community. The Club holds their weekly general meeting each Tuesday morning at 7:15 AM at Village Pizza and BBQ in downtown Long Grove. Prospective members are always welcome to attend.
