2nd arrest made in 2014 Batavia drug-related robbery

A man has been charged with aggravated robbery in connection with a holdup during a drug deal in downtown Batavia in 2014.

Batavia police arrested Michael Morris, 26, Friday morning.

He was being held in the Kane County jail awaiting an appearance in bond court.

Morris lives in the 1400 block of Nottingham Lane in Hoffman Estates.

According to Detective Kevin Bretz, around 8:40 p.m. Jan. 10, 2014, a man had agreed to meet a woman in a parking lot in the 100 block of West Wilson Street to exchange drugs. But when he approached the car she was in, Morris came up behind the victim. The two struggled and Morris pointed a gun at the victim. The man managed to wiggle out of his jacket and run off to a nearby business.

He reported that Morris got into a car that looked like the one the woman was in, and drove off.

Some marijuana, a cellphone and $20 were stolen.

The woman, Myriah Rogers of Batavia, pleaded guilty in March 2016 to aggravated robbery. She has not been sentenced, and is free on bond. Her next court date is Sept. 29.
