Motorcyclist dies in crash with truck on Route 25

A motorcyclist from St. Charles died after he collided with a truck Friday afternoon on Route 25 just south of Elgin, the Kane County's sheriff's office said.

The initial investigation indicates a Ford L9000 flatbed truck was traveling south on Route 25 and began to turn east into the parking lot of an industrial park. A Suzuki motorcycle traveling north on Route 25 struck the truck in the northbound lane. Sheriff's deputies were called about 2:45 p.m.

The driver of the motorcycle, Jordan Hale, 25, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.

The sole driver of the truck, David Odman, 50, of South Elgin, was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries.

Hale was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sheriff's office said.

No charges or tickets have been issued. The crash remains under investigation by Kane County sheriff's detectives and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
