Excel Beyond 211 announces 2016 scholarship winners

Excel Beyond 211 announced that it has awarded more than $28,000 in college scholarships for 2016 to its student-members, as well as an additional $29,000 in renewable scholarships.

Scholarships were awarded to college freshmen Sohaib Qazi, Pratikshlyr Pudasaini, Koby Theobold, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Allyssa Bellows, Purva Patel and Jagoda Szostakiewicz.

Scholarships also were awarded to sophomore and junior year college students Jazzy Anderson, Joriana Bonilla, Diana Campos, Fabiola Hernandez, Samantha Hernandez, Estefanny Jimenez, Natasha Lewis, Danica Lopez, Giancarlo Rivera Moore, Lisette Munoz, Rafel Ogurek, Victoria Ortiz, Bianca Perez and Marvin Vargas.

Excel Beyond 211 is an all volunteer, nonprofit organization affiliated with Dollars for Scholars that provides personalized mentoring and college-success strategies to selected first-generation college students.

The organization also provides smaller monetary awards throughout the school year to help meet unanticipated, college-related expenses.

Excel Beyond 211 generates money for its scholarship program through donations from individuals and corporations, and from fundraising events.
