Registration Open for COD 2016 Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K

Registration is now open for the 2016 College of DuPage Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Advance registration is $19.67 for individuals (to commemorate COD's opening in 1967 and its 50th anniversary), $5 for currently enrolled COD students (limitations apply) and $5 for the 100-Yard Youth Dash. Registration fees for children ages 5 to 12 and participants over 60 is $10. Participants who recruit three additional people to register for the 2016 event at the discounted price of $10 will receive a free race admission for next year's 2017 Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K event.

Sponsored by DuPage Medical Group, Eby-Brown, the McAninch Arts Center, the Naperville Running Company, Sodexo and WDCB 90.9 FM, the Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K features 15 popular Chicago and DuPage mobile eateries from noon to 8 p.m. In addition, a Kid Zone will host activities for the whole family from noon to 5 p.m., including a variety of games, face painting and Touch-A-Truck, where emergency vehicles, grounds equipment and semi-tractor trailers will be on hand for children to climb on. The day will also include a free outdoor concert by Tributosaurus, a band that will perform the music of David Bowie staring at 6:30 p.m.

The 100-Yard Youth Dash begins at 4 p.m. on the football stadium track and is for children 12 and under, with two divisions - ages 4 to 7 and 8 to 12. The Sunset 5K will begin at 5 p.m. and features a CARA- and USATF-certified course.

Sunset 5K awards include a $200 Visa gift card for the Top Overall male and female racers and the "Middle of the Pack" winner. Medals will also be awarded to the top three male and female age group winners, with all 5K participants eligible to win an iPad.

Race participants can register individually or as a team. Prizes are awarded for the fastest team and the "Luck of the Draw." All 5K race participants receive a short-sleeved technical T-shirt, a gift bag and a $2 Food Truck Rally voucher.

All proceeds from this event benefit the COD Fuel Pantry, a sustenance resource on campus dedicated to ensuring COD students are not distracted from their studies by hunger.
