Crash causes power outage in Carpentersville

A crash between a car and semitrailer truck at Randall and Binnie roads in Carpentersville Thursday afternoon downed power lines, causing an outage, police said.

Police were called to the scene at 1:13 p.m. The semi was southbound on Randall Road and the car was traveling north when the driver turned west onto Binnie Road in front of the truck, Carpentersville Police Deputy Chief Todd Shaver said.

The female driver of the car suffered injuries but none life-threatening. She was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Shaver said.

The truck swerved off the road, catching ComEd power lines. Police have closed the outside lane of Randall Road going south due to the downed wires. The roadway will be down to one lane between eight and 12 hours while ComEd crews work to repair the damage, Shaver added.

Police are still investigating the crash, and no citations have been issued.
