Mooseheart to welcome National Network of State Teachers of the Year Monday

On Monday, July 11, 75 members of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year will come to Mooseheart to take a campus tour, read to students and make a donation of books.

The activities will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. It is part of the network's July 11-14 national conference, which takes place in Rosemont.

The Mooseheart trip is one of two service projects the network is conducting during its conference. The other involves a trip to Schurz High School in Chicago.

After the campus tour, a handful of student teachers of the year will perform a reader's theater for Mooseheart's elementary-aged students. Middle school and high school students will hear inspirational speeches by Joe Fatheree and Annice Brave. Fatheree, from Effingham, Illinois, was named one of the top 10 educators in the world through the Global Education Prize. Brave, from Alton, Illinois, is the 2011 Illinois Teacher of the Year.
