July 23: The Illinois Jaguar Club's 2016 Concours d' Elegance, a premier display of more than 35 Jaguar automobiles in the Chicago area. The 2016 show will be at the Dunham Woods Riding Club, 33W333 E. Army Trail Road, Wayne. The show is open to the public from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This is a once-a-year opportunity to get a close up look at some of the finest automobile restorations found anywhere. Some of these cars are more than 60 years old and still in perfect "showroom" condition. There is ample parking at Dunham Woods. Just follow the arrows to the parking area and welcome to the free show.

Aug. 13: Elgin Road Race Car Show, sponsored by Fox Valley Chapter of the Model T Ford Club International. Sherman West Court, 1950 W. Larkin Ave., Elgin. All cars welcome. Aug. 21: Cruisin' with the Classics Car Show, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grand Dominion Lakeside Lodge, 3555 Grand Dominion, Mundelein. Registration is free to car owners and begins at 8:30 a.m. More than 100 cars competed in the show last year. Disc jockey, food booths, a bouncy house, face painting and balloon making for kids. Nonperishable food items and school supplies will be collected for the Fremont Food Pantry. Raffle proceeds and cash donations also will go to the pantry. "Flyin' down the Highway" is a featured display this year with one-of-a-kind, rare and exotic cars. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 28. Aug. 28: 12th annual Geneva Concours d'Elegance. Celebrate the Art of the Automobile from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the historic business district of downtown Geneva. Sept. 11: 30th annual British Car Festival, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. More than 20 British car clubs, 500 automobiles, authentic British food, Irish dancers, music, technical learning sessions, car merchandise giveaways, classic car parts vendors and new car dealers showcasing the latest imports from Great Britain. For the first time, this year's festival will include valve cover racing, a gravity propelled competition using modified automobile engine valve covers on wheels. Admission is free, with donations encouraged for Shelter Inc. Early car registration is $20 before Aug. 23, and $25 after the deadline.
