Kids' events at Schaumburg Twp. Library branches

A variety of free programs for children and tweens are taking place this summer at the Schaumburg Township District Library's branches.

The Hanover Park Branch at 1266 Irving Park Road will host "Family Storytime with Mayor Rod Craig" from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 6 and 13. Mayor Craig and other special guests from the community will read aloud and talk with library visitors.

To celebrate Shark Week, the Hoffman Estates Branch at 1550 Hassell Road will offer "Shark Coloring" for all ages from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 12. Participants will color sharks with family and friends.

The Hanover Park Branch will hold "Shark in a Bottle" for ages 6 to 12 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 15. Participants will make their own shark aquarium craft.

Kids ages 9 to 12 are welcome to become "Garden Detectives" from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, July 7, 14 and 21, at the Hanover Park Branch. Tend to the vegetable garden on the library's patio and learn how to keep gardens healthy and productive.
