Chicago Blackhawks, F Tootoo agree to 1 year contract

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran forward Jordin Tootoo, the team announced Tuesday.

Tootoo, 33, has played for three NHL teams over his 12-year career. He played the last two seasons with the New Jersey Devils and he tallied 4 goals and 5 assists in 66 games during the 2015-16 campaign.

Prior to the Devils, Tootoo spent eight seasons with the Nashville Predators and later joined the Detroit Red Wings from 2012-14. He has mustered up 158 points (63G, 95A) and 982 penalty minutes in 673 career games. Tootoo has also appeared in 40 Stanley Cup playoff games where he recorded 3 goals and 7 assists.

Tootoo was originally drafted by Nashville in the fourth round as the 98th overall pick of the 2001 draft. He made his NHL debut in 2003.
