Grant to help spur Buffalo Grove park restoration

The Buffalo Grove Park District has received a $10,000 grant to help restore its largest park, Mike Rylko Community Park.

The park district is working with the Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team and the Buffalo Creek Clean Water Partnership to restore stream banks, woodlands and wetlands at the park. The grant, received from the Openlands conservation group and ComEd, will help accelerate and complete work that's been in progress for more than 10 years, officials said.

The grant program is for open space projects that focus on conservation, preservation and improvements to local parks.
