Aurora man charged with DUI after car strikes tree in Naperville

A 23-year-old Aurora man was charged with driving under the influence after his car struck a tree early Saturday in a Naperville residential area, seriously injuring him, authorities said.

Police said a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant was northbound on Rickert Drive nearing Sanctuary Lane about 2:20 a.m. when the driver lost control of the car, left the roadway and struck a tree on the west side of Rickert.

The driver, Lucas Johnson, was taken to Edward Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Police later charged him with DUI and improper lane usage.

Rickert between Sanctuary and Book Road was closed until about 6:45 a.m. for the accident investigation and reconstruction.
