Southwestern Indiana man convicted in stepsister's death

SULLIVAN, Ind. (AP) - Jurors have convicted a southwestern Indiana man in the strangulation death of his pregnant stepsister whose body was found in a farm field about seven weeks after she was last seen alive.

The Sullivan County jury found Johnus Orr of Sullivan guilty on two counts of murder Friday in the deaths of 20-year-old Tiffanie Adams and her viable fetus since she was eight months pregnant.

County Prosecutor John Springer emphasized to jurors that evidence showed Orr used Adams' cellphone to text his then-wife after Adams had gone missing and that the phone was used near where her body was found in December 2014.

Defense attorney John Kesler argued the case against Orr was circumstantial and that there was reasonable doubt about who killed Adams and when she died.
