Indiana mother gets 20-years for neglect in son's death

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Prosecutors in Indianapolis say a woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in connection with her 2-year-old son's beating death.

Marion County prosecutors said Wednesday that Dominique Parks pleaded guilty to felony neglect. Authorities say the boy, Cameron Parks, died in October 2015 from multiple blunt force injuries.

Officials say as part of a plea agreement Parks has agreed to testify against Diquan Williams, who is charged with murder among other charges. Prosecutors are seeking a term of life without parole in his case. They accuse Williams of beating the boy to death. Prosecutors identify Williams as Parks' boyfriend at the time the boy died.

Parks died after suffering trauma including injuries to his brain, a lacerated liver, hemorrhages in both eyes and multiple bruises.
