To celebrate this Fourth of July holiday, take a look back a half-century at celebrations and parades throughout the Northwest suburbs as the nation celebrated its 190th birthday in 1966.
The 1960s are in full swing and vintage cars and fashions are on display.
Palatine, celebrating 100 years as an incorporated village, holds festivities including a parade and a Miss Palatine pageant.
Parades in Mount Prospect and Prospect Heights are also included, as well as fireworks displays in Hoffman Estates and Buffalo Grove.
