British brass bands at free Mt. Prospect concert

Join at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, for a truly unique evening of music. Three of the Midwest's premier British style brass bands will be joining forces to present "An Evening of Brass." The concert takes place at the Veterans Memorial Bandshell, 411 S. Maple St., in Mount Prospect.

Featured will be the Chicago Brass Band, The Eastern Iowa Brass Band, and the host, Illinois Brass Band. All three bands are members of the North American Brass Band Association and all have been national champions at various times throughout their existence. It will be a lively evening filled with marches, film music, overtures, jazz, Dixieland, Broadway, hymn tunes and of course patriotic selections. This is the first time the three bands have come together for a free summer concert in the Chicago suburban area.

Bring a blanket, chair, and a picnic dinner and enjoy a concert by three of the finest brass bands in the Midwest. Concessions will also be available. The performance will go on rain or shine. The performance will move into the Lions park recreation building in the event of inclement weather.

The event is free and family friendly. Children are encouraged to attend. This event is presented in conjunction with the Mount Prospect Park District.
