Qatar's RasGas reaches gas supply deal with France's EDF

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) - Qatari liquefied natural gas producer RasGas has reached a deal to supply France's EDF with up to 2 million tons of the fuel annually.

Government-backed RasGas said Wednesday it will begin delivering the LNG to a terminal in Dunkirk, France, starting next year.

Financial terms were not disclosed. RasGas already has three existing long-term LNG agreements with EDF subsidiaries in Italy and Belgium.

Qatar is the world's largest supplier of LNG, which is natural gas chilled until it becomes a liquid for transport aboard tanker ships.
