Preds name Redden assistant director of player development

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators have hired former All-Star defenseman Wade Redden as their assistant director of player development.

The move was announced Monday.

Redden will help out director of player development Scott Nichol in following and evaluating prospects drafted by Nashville. He will assist those prospects in their development by focusing on nutrition, practice habits, game performance, off-ice workouts and conditioning.

The 39-year-old Redden had 109 goals and 348 assists in 1,023 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins from 1996-2013. He was selected to the NHL All-Star Game in 2002 and 2004.
