District 158 board approves salary increases for some employees

Huntley schools' support personnel and nonunion employees will receive salary increases of about 4 percent on average this fall.

The Huntley Community School District 158 school board recently approved a three-year contract for support personnel and rate increases for nonunion employees.

For 2016-17, drivers and mechanics will receive hourly rate increases of 3.5 percent; all other Huntley Education Support Personnel Association employees will receive hourly rate increases of 4.11 percent. On top of that amount, nurses in the union will receive a one-time increase of 4 percent, and paraprofessionals in the union will receive an extra increase of 1.75 percent.

In years two and three of the contract, union employees will receive a 3.5 percent hourly rate increase, with an additional 1 percent increase for paraprofessionals each year. The full contract is available online.

The school board also has approved a new contract for Huntley High School Principal Scott Rowe. Details have not been released yet.

Superintendent John Burkey's contract extension is expected to be approved during a special board meeting at 6 p.m. today at the district's administrative offices, 650 Academic Drive, Algonquin.

Nonunion employees — not including administrators, occupational and physical therapists — will receive a 4.11 percent increase for the 2016-17 school year. Occupational and physical therapists will receive increases similar to employees in the Huntley Education Association contract.

The rate increase for some administrators — deans and department chairs — will be 3.5 percent next year. Other administrators — principals, associate principals, assistant principals, athletic director, directors of transportation, food service, finance, informational technology, operations and maintenance, and communications, chief security officer, assistant superintendent of human resources, associate superintendent, and chief academic officer — will receive a 3 percent salary increase.

Nonunion employees' salary increases total $287,234 for next school year.

Superintendent John Burkey is expected to get a contract extension on Tuesday.
