COD board agrees to keep tuition, taxes flat

College of DuPage trustees have approved a spending plan that will keep tuition flat and hold the line on property taxes during the upcoming fiscal year. The board voted 6-1 on Thursday night to adopt a roughly $172.9 million operating budget that is about $8.5 million less than this year. The Glen Ellyn-based school starts its next fiscal year on July 1. Full story.

Staffers moving back into Palatine village hall today

Village workers will spend this morning moving back into the Palatine village hall at 200 E. Wood St. after 21 months of exile while the $12.7 million renovation was being finished. For nearly two years, the village government has been working out of the former BMO Harris Bank building at 150 W. Wilson St., less than a third of the size of village hall - and a place employees are happy to be leaving behind. Full story.

Huntley senior housing project moves forward

Work on a long-awaited affordable senior housing and health care project in Huntley is expected to begin this summer. The village board Thursday approved final plans for the proposed Alden Huntley Horizon Senior Living Community targeted for nearly 15 acres within Regency Square, off Route 47 directly north of Del Webb's Sun City active adult community. Man charged with attacking West Dundee senior

A 31-year old West Dundee man has been accused of striking a woman older than 60 in the face with a cellphone, according to Kane County court records. Brett O. Fix of the 400 block of Highland Avenue, is free on a recognizance bond after his arrest. Full story.

Aurora police: Getaway driver charged in February convenience store heist

A 46-year-old Montgomery woman has been charged as the getaway driver in connection with the February armed robbery of a 7-Eleven on Aurora's far southeast side. Jacqueline M. McKinney, of the 100 block of Rocky Way, Montgomery, is being held in Will County jail. Full story.

More gun charges for Aurora man

Additional felony charges have been levied against the 21-year-old Aurora man who police say shot two men Tuesday afternoon. Single counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated battery and two additional counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm were filed against Raheim D. Davis, of the 1400 block of Andover Drive, on Thursday. Full story.
