Wauconda employees win hydrant contest

A two-man team from Wauconda's public works department won the American Water Works Association's Hydrant Hysteria competition in Chicago this week. Employees Bart Romero and Dave Schilf seized a first-place prize by assembling a Clow Medallion fire hydrant faster than any other duo. They put together the hydrant in 75 seconds, a new competition record, according to a village news release.
