Ipsen, Parratto take narrow leads at US Olympic trials

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Kristian Ipsen passed Michael Hixon on his last semifinal dive Monday night to take the lead in the men's 3-meter competition at the U.S. Olympic diving trials in Indianapolis.

Ipsen, an Olympic bronze medalist in 2012 in synchro, finished with 973.2 points on 12 dives. Hixon is second at 966.15 with Mark Anderson in third at 856.95. Four-time Olympian Troy Dumais is fourth at 856.1 as he tries to make his fifth Olympic team.

Jessica Parratto finished with a score of 714.95 on 10 dives in the women's 10-meter to take the lead over Samantha Bromberg at 645.95. Amy Cozad, Parratto's synchro 10-meter partner, is third at 645.8.

Finals of both events will be held Saturday. The top two finishers in each event will qualify for the American team bound for Rio.
