Shell station, convenience store coming to Sugar Grove

SUGAR GROVE - The village of Sugar Grove said a former Citgo gas station at the northeast corner of Sugar Grove Parkway and Galena Boulevard will become a Shell fuel station and Graham's Market Place Convenience Store & Car Wash.

The property was recently purchased by Graham C-Stores of Gages Lake. Terms of the purchase were not announced.

Graham C-Stores is a multi-branded, multistate fuel station and convenience store operator with 30 locations in the greater Chicago area.

Owner Michael Graham plans to rebrand the facility as a Shell fuel station, with regular and diesel fuel, and a Graham's Market Place Convenience Store & Car Wash.

The property will be improved with new paving, new fuel pumps and a complete remodeling of the inside and outside of the store.

Extensive remodeling work is expected to start immediately and will take approximately three months to complete. A grand opening is expected in September.

"The modernization and reopening of the facility will benefit Sugar Grove residents and visitors," said Sugar Grove Mayor P. Sean Michels. "Village officials have worked hard to find a new operator at this vital corner and we couldn't be more pleased to have Graham C-Stores in the community."

Graham said the site will undergo a complete makeover.

"Virtually everything, inside and out, will be updated into a bright, welcoming modern center," Graham said.
