Triathletes swim, bike and run their way through Lake in the Hills

Chilly waters and sunny skies greeted the hundreds of participants Sunday morning in the Lake in the Hills Triathlon.

The race featured a half-mile swim in Woods Creek Lake, followed by a 15-5 mile bike ride and then wrapped up with a four-mile run that finished in Ken Carpenter Park along Randall Road.

This year's race was the second since Huntley residents and triathletes Matt Kidd and Shane Firsching took over the event from the Village of Lake in the Hills. They were expecting this year's crowd to top last year's, which drew 268 competitors on a rainy day.
