Libertyville Days parade draws thousands to streets

Thousands of parade lovers lined Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville on Saturday to watch marching bands, clowns, horses, helium balloon characters and Medinah Shriner groups.

The Libertyville Days parade, sponsored by Advocate Condell Medical Center, is one of the main attractions of the annual festival.

Around 90 units participated in Saturday's parade, including Core Martial Arts and Fitness, Indian Guides-Lake Prairie Federation, Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps, Libertyville Cooperative Nursery School, Libertyville pageant queens and cheerleaders, Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club and the Village of Libertyville Senior Center.

Area politicians, scouts and local restaurants also were part of the fun.

The theme of this year's festival is "Meet a Real Pirate," and people were encouraged to dress as pirates for the parade.

The Libertyville Days festival continues through Sunday, June 19. For more information visit www.libciviccenter.org.
