Three hurt, one critically, in crash near Wauconda

A 72-year-old Lake Zurich man is in critical condition after a crash in unincorporated Lake County near Wauconda.

Authorities said the driver of a 2006 Cadillac DTS pulled out in front of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata at the Lakewood Dog Park, 27511 North Fairfield Road, at 3:26 p.m. Thursday

The Cadillac driver suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, authorities said.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Hyundai and his 5-year-old passenger were taken to Condell with injuries that are nonlife threatening, authorities said.

The Hyundai was traveling north on Fairfield Road when the Cadillac pulled in front of it, authorities said. The Hyundai struck the driver's side of the Cadillac.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
