District 54 releases tentative budget for 2016-17

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 school board members have released details of a tentative budget for the 2016-17 school year, which includes $223.4 million in costs and $226.2 million in revenues.

While federal aid is estimated to show minor increases, the district's budget assumes no increases in state aid due to the funding deficiencies facing the state.

There will continue to be a freeze on overall cumulative spending except for operations and maintenance and in the education fun for planned textbook and technology adoptions.

District 54 will remain debt-free, as it's been since Dec. 1, 2011.

The tentative budget will be on display at the district's office at 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg from July 1 through Aug. 11.

A public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 1, prior to the board's expected approval of the budget on Aug. 11.
