Patio just a mishmash of furniture

Every year I hope it will be the one in which I can afford to spend some money on my patio furniture and lighting. Our yard is beautiful with big trees, but our furniture was given to us 20 years ago and each year we lose another chair to broken webbing.

I have a string of lights that adds some ambience, but it really doesn't fit the area - and is probably dangerous to be dangling between the posts. I did not inherit any decorating genes in my family, and have no idea how to improve the lighting. Because we just had my father-in-law move in with us, keeping the patio safe is a big priority. We would welcome and ideas and help you can give us.

Budget: $10,000 or more.

The patio appears to be a mishmash of furniture and a shelf full of items needed for grilling. It lacks storage for their grilling needs.

Suggestions:

• The table needs to be replaced, I like how the round one fits now. Add a patterned umbrella for shade, then an umbrella light for night time use so the string of lights can be removed.

• They seem to enjoy grilling so I would love to see a seating area near the grill to sit and relax while you are waiting for the food to cook.

• Consider adding a Big Green Egg Grill with storage and an island so the shelf can be eliminated. It will help clean up the outside appearance of the patio, as well.
