Play hockey in Autism Society's June fundraiser

The Autism Society of Illinois will present the sixth-annual "Pucks for Autism," a three-day hockey tournament, from Friday, June 24, through Sunday, June 26, at the Glacier Ice Arena, 670 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

The cost to register a team for the tournament is $850. Teams must have a minimum of 11 people. A $200 nonrefundable deposit is required to register.

Every game will be three 15-minute periods. Games tied at the end of three periods will be resolved by a shootout. The tournament will follow USA hockey rules.

Two divisions will be offered (B and C), with eight teams per division.

Every team is guaranteed four games - one on Friday and Sunday, and two on Saturday - with an opportunity for the championship game.

The winner of each game will receive a 12 pack of beer, courtesy of Kenwood Liquors. Approximately 50 percent of each team fee will be donated to the Autism Society of Illinois, a charitable organization that provides support to individuals and families affected by autism. The remaining portion of team fees will be used to pay for applicable tournament costs.

Reduced rates are available at the Holiday Inn Express in Vernon Hills ($99 per night), which is located less than two minutes from the rink.
