UNC: reserve runner Ty'Son Williams to transfer after 1 year

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina tailback Ty'Son Williams will transfer to another school.

Team spokesman Kevin Best said in an email Thursday that Williams has notified the Tar Heels' coaching staff of his decision. Williams ran 19 times for 57 yards as a true freshman and was set to compete for reserve reps behind all-Atlantic Coast Conference runner Elijah Hood and rising senior T.J. Logan this fall.

Williams, a native of Sumter, South Carolina, will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after sitting out a year due to transfer rules. He was rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com when he enrolled at UNC in January 2015.
