Pottawatomie Garden Club names scholarship winner

The Pottawatomie Garden Club of St. Charles is pleased to announce the winner of the $3,000 scholarship for this year is Kelvin Wang, son of Stephanie Wang and John Kochlefl.

Kelvin graduated with honors from St. Charles East High School and has been accepted to the University of Chicago with a major in environmental science. He is an Illinois State Scholar who was chosen not only for his academics, but for his leadership and volunteer work during his high school years. He is also a member of the Science, Math and English Honor Societies.

Pottawatomie Garden Club would like to invite the community to come out for its biennial Garden Walk on Saturday, July 9. It is called "A Day in the Country" and there will be six glorious gardens and a Garden Gate Boutique. Proceeds for this walk support the scholarship fund. Students who are pursuing studies related to botany, conservation, land management, ecology, forestry agriculture, horticulture, environmental concerns may apply for the scholarship in the spring of each year if they reside within St. Charles Unit District 303 boundaries.

Garden walk tickets may be purchased at PottaGardenClub.org, Blue Goose Market, 300 S. Second St. in St. Charles; Heinz Brothers Greenhouse, 2010 E. Main St. in St. Charles; or Wasco Nursery, 41W781 Route 64 in St. Charles.
