Official Palatine 150 beer to be unveiled Thursday

The official beer of the Palatine 150th anniversary celebration will be unveiled Thursday evening at Emmett's Brewing Co., 110 N. Brockway St. in Palatine.

The event will feature food specials, as well as free samples of the special beer, which is called Palatine 150 Rail Ale.

Joe Petykowski, a member of the Palatine 150 committee, said he was present when the beer was brewed by Emmett's master brewer and Palatine native Mike Engelke. Petykowski said the beer is a Session IPA, which is hoppier than an ale but has a lower alcohol by volume content than an IPA.

The event will run from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz is scheduled to speak at 4:45 p.m.
