Loaded gun in glove box

A Milwaukee man was held on weapons and other charges after being stopped early Sunday in Round Lake Park. Police said a strong smell of cannabis was present when a vehicle driven by Osvaldo E. Colon, 21, was stopped about 1 a.m. on traffic violations. Colon and a passenger, Karrington L. Windham, 27, each had cannabis, police said. A loaded .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun was found in the glove box, police said. Colon was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one felony count of not having a firearm identification card and unlawful possession of cannabis. Police said Colon told them he obtained the weapon via a social media site within the last few weeks. An investigation will continue with an analysis of the weapon and a trace by federal authorities. Bail for Colon was set at $5,000 meaning he had to post $500 to be released. Windham was released on a personal recognizance bond.
