Vulnerable kids losing lifeline at Maryville

As a volunteer at Maryville Academy, I want to say, shame on us as a society for the huge mistake we are making on gambling with the future of the neediest of children.

Evicting the children of Maryville is beyond ludicrous. It is sad, irresponsible, shameful and just plain wrong. The children should be our priority and they are not.

It was suggested that they will be placed in foster homes. As a senior citizen having raised my children (remembering teen years) and a former foster mom, I know there are few foster homes available for teens, especially teens with problems.

If this were an option, then why aren't they in homes already? I would beg all the people making these decisions to help out and place these teens in their own homes. Then maybe we, the voting public paying outrageous taxes, will believe their empty promises.

Are you willing to house, feed, educate, help with school, meds, sometimes violent behavior, debilitating painful experiences? If so, I will vote for and so appreciate you. If not, you should shut up before you ruin these children's Iives.

Give the public more info. Where and when will these children be placed? I would personally like to thank the compassionate foster parents that are lining up to take in these kids.

These kids are our future. They need consistency and help in their lives now, if they are going to survive in society and assimilate in the future.

I apologize to all of the kids that we are hurting. It takes a village to raise a child must not apply to these lonely, helpless children.

I hope every taxpaying citizen remembers this and thinks about these desperate children in the future. I sadly will.
