Elk Grove Village library getting new roof

Work to replace the Elk Grove Village Public Library's original roof is expected to start by mid-July or the beginning of August, officials said.

The library board this week approved a $905,000 contract with DCG Roofing Solutions of Des Plaines to tear off and replace the roof. That's less than the $1 million cost library officials originally estimated for the roof project, said Library Director Debra Nelson.

Construction is expected to take about a month, but the library won't close as work goes on.

The last major renovation project at the library took place last year, with a remodeling of the technical services area. The current building opened in 1990.
