Chromatics to perform Sunday for Flag Day event

To kick off the 100th anniversary of Flag Day, Batavia High School's new a cappella group, Chromatics, will perform, along with members of the school's marching band, at the annual ice cream social from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Peg Bond Center band shell, 151 N. Island Ave.

Chromatics will perform arrangements of "The Star Spangled Banner," "America the Beautiful" plus a couple other pop favorites.

The a cappella group was started this past February when new choir director Peter Barsch wanted to find a way for the student musicians in the high school choir to perform in the community more often. While they are building their repertoire of a cappella arrangements of pop, rock and jazz hits, they are looking for more opportunities to perform at community events and local businesses. If you would like to have Chromatics perform at your event, contact peter.barsch@bps101.net.

Hot dogs and ice cream sundaes also will be for sale; all proceeds go toward Batavia's 4th of July Sky Concert. Bring the family and be prepared to have some fun at this old-fashioned town festival.
