Baseball, softball tournament schedules adjusted to avoid Friday heat

The IHSA has revised schedules for Friday's games in the high school baseball and softball state tournaments in an effort to avoid the worst of intense mid-day heat, with temperatures forecasted to be around 100 degrees.

At Silver Cross Field in Joliet, the Class 3A baseball semifinals are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. (St. Viator vs. Lemont) with the second game to follow. The 4A baseball semifinals are scheduled to start at 5 p.m., with the subsequent matchup between St. Charles North and Mundelein to follow immediately.

At EastSide Centre in East Peoria, the Class 3A softball semifinals will be played at 9 a.m. (Carmel Catholic vs. Montini) and 11 a.m. The Class 4A softball semis will begin at 5 p.m. (Downers Grove South vs. Normal West), with the second game following immediately.
