Man captured after escaping jail by posing as another inmate

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate at a Washington state jail who escaped by posing as another inmate has been captured in Illinois.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that 30-year-old Michael Diontae Johnson was apprehended Monday by U.S. Marshals following a multi-agency escape investigation.

The sheriff's office says Johnson had been in jail facing charges of harassment, assault, intimidating a witness and bail jumping. He has kidnapping and assault convictions in Arizona and was serving time on those charges when brought to Clark County to stand trial for local charges.

Authorities said on May 12, Johnson escaped jail by pretending to be another inmate who was scheduled for release. Authorities didn't say how the inmates switched identities.
