Sex offender accused of recording child in Wrigley bathroom

A Villa Park sex offender was charged with videotaping a child in a Wrigley Field bathroom over the weekend, Chicago police said yesterday. Nicholas J. Gregor, of the 300 block of North Ardmore, was charged with three felony counts after the incident that occurred on Saturday, police said. Full story.

Former St. Charles-area resident slain in DeKalb

A 19-year-old former St. Charles-area resident died over the weekend after her boyfriend beat and stabbed her to death in a DeKalb apartment after an argument, DeKalb police said. Police say they were called to Moorea Desroches' apartment on the 900 block of Kimberly Drive on Sunday for a well-being check. Full story.

Glenbard North alum shot and killed in Chicago

A 27-year-old Glenbard North High School alum from Hanover Park was shot and killed early yesterday in Chicago's South Loop, authorities said. Sami Talab Salaymeh and a 23-year-old woman were in a black pickup truck at 3:58 a.m. at a traffic light near 24th Street and Michigan Avenue when two people walked up to the vehicle, Chicago police said. Settlement reached in Aurora man's concrete mixer death

A $10,000 settlement has been reached in lawsuit over a 39-year-old Aurora man who got caught in a concrete mixer and was killed three years ago while working at the Naperville-based DuKane Precast, according to court records. Relatives of Vicente Guzman-Chaidez of Aurora filed a wrongful-death lawsuit after his July 20, 2013, death. Full story.

St. Charles honors school board president as lifesaver

In the span of about 90 seconds, Steve and Diane Spurling's spring day stroll to the park with their dog became a nightmare of blood and gunshots. They weren't looking to be heroes. They just saw a neighbor who needed help. That help likely saved at least two lives, St. Charles Police Chief James Keegan said Monday night. Keegan joined city aldermen in bestowing an award upon the couple Monday night. Full story.

Two drivers hurt in collision in Beach Park

Alcohol appears to be a factor in a crash Sunday night in Beach Park that injured both drivers - one critically - Lake County sheriff's officials said yesterday. The crash involving two Waukegan men happened at 10:12 p.m. Sunday on North Sheridan Road south of Suddard Place, according to a news release. Full story.

Arlington Hts. man accused of drug possession

An Arlington Heights man has been charged with using an electronic device while driving and felony possession of marijuana. Palatine officers stopped a vehicle Saturday evening on the 900 block of east Palatine Road and found a brown paper bag with more than 140 grams of cannabis, police said in a statement. Full story.
