Dairy Queen plans to add locations in Cook, Lake counties

Minneapolis-based Dairy Queen said it plans to expand with up to 35 new locations primarily in Cook and Lake counties by next year, according to a report in Crain's Chicago Business.

The chain of franchisees is still scouting the new locations, the company had said.

Earlier this year, the company also announced similar expansions in California, Vermont, Massachusetts and in Europe.

DQ was founded in 1938 in Kankakee and opened its first store in Joliet in 1940. It now has more than 6,000 restaurants in the United States, Canada and 18 other countries and is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, the company website said.
